Peter, ummm...fair enough about the 'attack on the consumer market'.
Thinking that I might have accidentally dropped out of society for a few months (which is likely because my graphics projects keep me pretty busy), I checked the news releases back to April as well as Adobe's web site.
I see nothing of interest to consumers aside from PhotoD and (again, maybe PageMill). I would be asking myself, "What do they intend to attack with?" I see that PhotoD has been bundled with a variety of cameras, scanners, and computer systems. That's great and probably the easiest way to get it into the hands of people who may not have heard of Adobe before (the non-pro consumer types). They'll take it and like it, dammit! (So I'm still discounting shelf space as an issue for Adobe in particular)
I'm mystified about this consumer attack, but I'll take your word for it. I doubt the average consumer has the willingness to shell out for Adobe's professional products, or the patience for the learning curve. PhotoD, bundled, should do fine (although one product is not much of an attack.
Time to get back to pushing those pixels...
