I think I understand better after reading your post. Now the question is who is in a better position in the Java market at present? Maybe both of them will benefit from network computing, but according to the article I refer to, the author thinks that IBM is in a better position.

In an emerging market, it is beneficial to all players for multiple large players to be aggressively marketing solutions. IBM does not threaten SUN's profitibality in the Java Solutions space any more than SUN threatens IBM's (not at all). Together, they are forming the market. Fighting for market-share won't occur for several years. Meanwhile, the increase in credibility of Java solutions is a great thing for both companies.
