There are way too many CEOs who determine each others compensation. We should be surprised that their salaries seem to have no bounds and few are really held accountable by their BODs.

Yeah, but there is also the armies of Senior VP, Executive VP's, and plain vanilla VP's. Off the top of my head I think we are talking about folks making over $200K per year. You cut the $200K guys to $175K and they might have to keep the beemer another year... but the people at the bottom get a wage where they can afford their expenses, insurance, and take the kids to a movie on the weekend.
