Anyone,

In general I have agreed with the new boards decisions. However, Motorola's exit over the CHRP thing is bad news. It is one thing to delay a superior product. It is another to block it all together.

I hope that this rift will be healed, but if it is not, this is the effect it will have on me:

I have an 8500, a 2500 printer, and numerous periferals. I have to make a decision this year on an upgrade machine. With Motorola going I will be reluctant to buy ANY additional products for my Mac whatsoever, because anything I buy now might not be compatable with the next workstation I buy, be it Mac-Intel or Windows NT workstation. I would rather not, but if the PPC chipmakers dissappear what choice will we have? This also applies to software.

Can anyone answer that? Who will manufacture Mac chips? I did hear that UMAX makes PPC chips, but I don't believe that is correct. If Apple converts to Intel chips then, again I will wait on ANY purchases. This is bad news for the Apple platform as everyone will hold off now. If deflation continues it will multiply the effect. Bad news. A huge blow.
