"John Siffert, a white-collar-crime attorney with Lankler, Siffert & Wohl who is not involved in the case, said one reason a witness might request to re-appear before the grand jury would be to recant previous testimony."

What is implied is that an effor to recant previous testimony opens the door to the Grand Jury wondering why the earlier testimony needed to be recanted....why is his memory better now than it was the other three times he testified? Contradictions in the different stories must have some rationale for why they contradict. The jury can believe whatever makes the most sense..and

"Recantation may help a witness avoid an indictment on perjury charges or, if the witness is indicted, could make it difficult for a jury to find that the defendant acted “wilfully” when he offered false testimony, Mr Siffert added."

This kind of analysis (and what does Siffert know) would lead one to believe Mr. Rove is in a heck of a box.

We'll see.
