I have a high school friend who became an ordained minister to help the ministry in her church and at our monthly lunch we were talking about the events of Rita. She said they had a man evacuee come to their church for shelter, but said he had two questions to ask before coming in...do you have Cable and a big screen TV, they said "No, but we do have a room with a TV so everyone can watch it". Then asked if they would replace his mobile phone for him cause it wasn't working. They told him they could not do that, but could provide him with a cot, good hot meals, and hot showers and clean clothes if he needed them and a clean place to stay. He looked at them and said "If you don't have Cable with a big screen TV and will not provide me with a new telephone I surely am not going to stay here. The Minister said she told him she hoped he had good luck in finding what he was asking for at some other shelter, but doubted it. Their church ladies had worked so hard getting everything up and running for the evacuees, to make them comfortable with a lot of good food and a play room for the children with toys and she thought his remarks were simply too selfish. She said he left mumbling about the way he was treated there.
