The fact often played down or actually seldom mentioned at all in media and elsewhere is that the relative majority of the population in most if not all EU countries is strongly against full Turkish membership.

It is IMO quite amazing indeed, that the governments of same countries - except for Austria that is - have not picked up on this as yet.

Turkey is and remains a Middle East, or "Little Asia" if you prefer that, country and Europe ends somewhere on this side of Ural and the Bosporus.
