Bush Plan Shows U.S. Is Not Ready for Deadly Flu
By GARDINER HARRIS

(What else would you expect from incompetent Dumbya and his crew of "Brownies?")

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 - A plan developed by the Bush administration to deal with any possible outbreak of pandemic flu shows that the United States is woefully unprepared for what could become the worst disaster in the nation's history.

Its one of those rare times when Bush is not at fault. I spoke to my cousin [the MD] this week about it. My first stint in the classroom will come this quarter and the grad program is encouraging us strongly to get flu shots. While talking to my cousin about what they advised, we got into this whole issue of the pandemic. It seems pharm. labs don't want to make flu vaccines anymore because of all the lawsuits that typically arise, many of which are frivolous. And that's creating problems not only with the regular flu shots but also in the production of avian flu shots. As the article says, we have only 4 million vaccines stockpiled and we need at least 133 million.

If the pandemic hits this year, we are screwed.........a lot of people are going to die. He advised me to get a prescription of Tamflu to help fight the disease. And I am suggesting the same to everyone else on the thread, no matter what a person's age is. People of all ages in Asia have died from the avian flu. That means everyone needs to be proactive.
