ED is a motive wave, and a triangle is corrective, so, the convention is that the former is labeled in numbers, and the latter in letters. And, yes - in an ED the 3 should go further than 1.

I think that the two patterns are "related" - namely, the 5th wave which follows a triangle is, in fact, the "analog" of the last wave of an ED, which often "overshoots". It is almost as if a triangle were an ED which is sort of squashed... -g.

I didn't "suggest" the triangle scenario - you did, even though you called it an "ED". And - if you are right - the 5th - as I said - would take off after NDX pulls back (in Wave "e") towards the mid-1400's. If (IF) this ever comes to pass, it will take longer to play out. Maybe the 5th (which would follow your triangle) would be the X-mas rally.

But this possibility isn't may favored, as you know.
