The American people (the majority of them) know exactly what Iraq is- a gopher hole to sink money in to. I don't think this "legacy" is going to play well long term- even leaving aside the mess Iraq will probably be once we're "finished" there. But don't except the really rah rah pro war folks to ever wake up and realize it. There are still folks out there who think we should have "won" the Vietnam war-- if only we'd "tried" a little harder. There's a sucker born every minute, and there are ten more behind him to take his place.
