Study your science. The foetus doesn't even develop the basic components to be a potential human being until about 5 months into the pregnancy, that is, the very beginnings of a spinal column which will gradually evolve into a brain. Before that, they are just developing cells, the basic beginnings of a lifeform. Not much different than a tadpole. The human brain doesn't start developing until very late in the pregnancy and the baby isn't self-aware until after birth.
What makes us human? Not simple biology but our brains, our awareness of ourselves, our consciousness, which we could call our "soul". The same applies to the braindead. If they have no consciousness they basically cease to be human. Which is why letting Terri Schiavo die was the right thing to do. Of course the rightwing lied-lied-lied about Schiavo, claiming she was conscious and perceptive, even healable, but as the autopsy showed and proved, her brain was dead as a door nail. She was also blind. No consciousness, no life. So "pro-life" is a misnomer, a deliberately inaccurate term.
Meanwhile the rightwing supports all kinds of deadly industries and policies, including toxic pollution, the weapons lobby, fatty foods lobby, you name it. |
