Not that I completely object to the "Coulter wing" of the party attacking the Meirs and Roberts nominations. No one knows what ANYONE would do once handed a lifetime appointment to anything. But the same is true for all "known" conservatives. Bush says "Trust me." They already made THAT decision when they ran off the domestic enemy and gave him his second term. Now it's time to trust him on the Miers nomination.

But to the "Coulter wing's" credit, consider:

They can't HELP but understand that Miers is ALREADY confirmed, and the rest is formality. That makes bitching free, and the possibility of "I told you so" gaining political capital in the future.

They also know that Bush is in his LAST term (something the domestic enemy can't seem to grasp), and far too many Republicans are talking about the Mad Cow or "RUDY!!! being "frontrunners". The only way to prevent a last, FATAL epidemic of BobDole's Disease is to stake out positions to oppose THEM, not Bush. The Miers objections begin the process of that NEXT fight. BUSH was NOT re-elected by millions of resurgent Christians because they are admirers of Mad Cow or "RUDY!!!" Quite the opposite, actually. AND they bring forth the numbers required to bury Satan Clinton in the ash heap of history forever.

So the Miers noise serves the purpose of helping keep the party in the hands of those who SUPPORT the emerging New American Renaissance, while reminding Bush that a political dog fight over his third or fourth nominee is inevitable. Frying Schumer like a kielbasa is just too good a prospect to pass up...
