>>>>lethargic administration<<<< yahoogle!, you must be very young. There are numerous timetables floating here on this board history...I suggest you look at them. Near as I can tell, the LA Gov didn't sign the papers for the Feds to even come in until AFTER she thought about it for 24 hours (her direct and quoted words)

The hurricane hit Monday night. By Tuesday AM, the news services thought they had overreacted, and so did everyone else. It wasn't until Tuesday afternoon, that the media was able to show pictures of the massive flooding that had occurred so suddenly after the levees broke. By Wed morning, the Feds were on the move, and by Thursday, they were definitely there in force.

Considering the First Responders program says for citizens to be able to fend for themselves for 72-96 hours (3 to 4 days) after an event --- be it a man-made terrorist type event, or nature-made event---

We can all wish that the Government was magic, and could fly men and all the supporting gear necessary immediately to an area, but anyone with any brain at all, will know that that isn't possible, if there are no runways, or if hurricane or strong winds are still around.
