"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." "A great example of him not intending to bring down society IMO." His "not intending" actually did bring an end to Roman society within a few hundred years. They saw their demise and morphed into the Holy Roman Catholic Church and that institution plunged most of the world into dark ages that lasted hundreds more years and still exists today.
