When I grew up in the 50's, $100/week was a successful income for a working person. Even in 1965 when I went to work in a GM Assembly plant (Chevys and Buicks), the UAW had gotten the national contract up to $3.13/hour. I have no idea what it is now, but probably well north of $12/hour.
