What competitor products exist that are cheaper than oil? Coal is objected to on pollution grounds. Clean coal isn't for this decade. Nuclear power? Graphite ball technology is just around the corner but we are still talking about a tiny fraction of the world's energy arising from that. Wind,waves and photoelectric power are all auxiliary sources only.
