"I don't need that engagement. It's dull, stupid and boring. It's also readily available on many other threads all over SI - hundreds of thousands of posts of moronic, self-serving drivel. It's easy to find if you look"

There is no need to keep tossing in implications. I only asked for a little help understanding the point. You've done a good job of explaining.

So the threads reflect a partisan reality in the U.S. and your hope (and the hope of others) is that the leadership of these partisan parties might be less committed to their partisan voters than they must pretend in order to get elected? Is that close?

Because if my read of the "hundreds of thousands of posts of moronic, self-serving drivel" is correct, then there really is a polarization of political belief which leaves no room for any power from the center. Thus the leader of either of those extreme political camps (I trust "extreme" is not inaccurate) must appeal to an extreme populace in order to get elected? Am I close?
