I thought we went through all this twice before. I and everybody I know has insulated their house very well. Almost everybody I know takes Toronto's passable public transportation to work.
I stopped driving a car years ago. My local buddies and I frequently talk about high efficiency furnaces vs. medium efficiency ones etc. I walk to work and I couldn't distinguish an SUV from an elephant. The one thing that might possibly matter is the increased use of nuclear power, though I think nuclear energy has been popular for a long time everywhere but in the US and the USSR. Anyway the Brent price of oil is $59 a barrel, so it would be interesting to see an accurate study as to whether ethanol is really cheaper than oil at this price. I think oil is stabilizing in price and won't go far away from $59 for months and maybe years. Anyway, my point is that most people have been aware of conservation for some time as I don't know of many people who actually make increasing spendable money in real terms from their jobs year by year.
