will make real estate more expensive to own, and hence, less attractive

I got to meet the attorney in charge of the Governor's revamp of the Utah state tax in my tax class. The guy is the top dog in tax in the state, and has been practicing tax law for decades. You know what they found when they studied the affect of the mortgage interest deduction nationwide? Doesn't affect home purchases one bit. Deduction or no deduction, before or after implementing a deduction, home purchase rates stayed the same apparently.
