What would you characterize as an "out of line" prayer?

I'm not sure. I have no experience with sports team prayer so I'm at a loss for the possibilities. I specified what I thought would be an appropriate prayer--to a generic deity for the safety of the players. I can't think of anything else that would be appropriate, although I'd be interested in suggestions.

Since it was claimed that team "confidence," "spirit," and "unity" were dependent on said prayer, I have to assume the prayer in question would have to go beyond appeals for safety. Appeals for safety might help confidence, as I mentioned earlier, but I don't see where they would do anything for unity or spirit, except, I suppose, in the case where the team was a church team going up again a competing church team. <g>
