In case you can't get anything else to work with the CD's.. there is a little program called Total Recorder that will record, with excellent quality, any sounds that pass through your sound card.
You can record CD audio or web audio with it. You can even pump an LP through your soundcard and record that if you want.
Only drawback, it records everything as a WAV, so I usually convert them over to mp3s. The music nazis hate it.
