ElM, having lived in Ottawa for 2 winters, it wasn't that fuel was expensive that drove us out. It was just too damn cold for 9 months of the year, plus we wanted the familiar realm of home. Fuel could be free and I wouldn't want to stay there.

There is plenty of room near the equators and that's where warm-blooded mammals should live. Polar bears can stay up there and hibernate. Seals are fat, so they do okay too.

Humans should be skinny and in the tropics to avoid seasonal affective disorder [cabin fever].
