Hi,

I think you got it all wrong. Below is a list of reasons why.

1. Element of Surprise: Sun and Google annonced that they are teaming up. It would be stupid to lay out their entire roadmap to the world. If they did MSFT would have more time to react. The element of surprise has to be their in competitive environments.

2. Front End/Back End: Sun is a manufacture of enterprise hardware and software thus they are a back end supplier. Google is a distributor of content to consumers and companies so they are a front end supplier to the end user. These companies compliment each other very well.

3. Open Source: Everything is going open source. It has too in order for the internet to act like a utility this has to happen.

4. Out With The Old And In With The New: In one fell swoop Google can distribute an entire office suite comparable to MSFT Office. The only difference is that the office suite will reside on a server at a Google location and will use SUNW hardware and software. It will be more secure than a pc, cheaper and, more reliable. Give me these three things and I can smell money.

5. New Distribution Model: Do you have any idea how much SUNW software Google could distribute through the internet? Tons! SUNW will get a cut. Also, since they are using SUNW software it only makes sense for them to use SUNW hardware because SUNW's revamped product line of low cost server. In essence, Google will be a premier account for SUNW.
