The people who are coming up with worst case scenarios either (a) don't know crap about biology and the history of human health, or (b) are in a position to financially benefit from the money spent on "eliminating" the threat.

I don't believe either of those is an accurate assessment.

a. Dr. John Treanor and Dr. Irwin Redlener incompetents? WHO, an organization of incompetents.

b. The industry that is in a position for the greatest financial gain is the pharms and they're relatively quiet in the big scheme of things.

The whole rest of the world didn't write up those reports and escaped untaxed and unpunished.

I gather you know quite a bit about the 3rd world and their susceptability to Y2K issues. What was the distribution of COBOL programs in the 3rd world that were running financial applications?

How about in the US? How many COBOL programs were tested/modified in preparation for Y2K?
