Your questions surprise me a bit. Are you new to the subject too?

Cytokine storms are not common. Most influenza's don't cause it. A Cytokine storm requires a healthy immune system.

Spanish Flu was after WWI, and killed more people than the war itself. Here is some information on it:

I have not seen anything about H5N1 killing the old and infirm, only about killing those infected from handling the birds. Actually can't find much about ages at all. Started me thinking. Would the old and infirm be handling live birds? I don't think so. I suspected that the breakout information was being suppressed to keep from alarming people. Then I found this:
