GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands: Following the successful launch of NetSpeak Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services in the Cayman Islands in May 2005, Cable & Wireless (C&W) has now introduced UK local and toll-free numbers for subscribers of this service.
People calling NetSpeak subscribers from the UK will be able to call the Cayman Islands for less than a cost of an international call by dialling a local London, England number or a UK toll-free or freephone number (0800).
NetSpeak customers are able to make unlimited international calls at a low monthly rate using their high-speed internet access, with a handset and a special NetSpeak device that converts telephone conversations into packets of digital data to be carried over the internet.
All NetSpeak subscribers are provided with a local Cayman Islands number to receive calls on this handset. Since the launch of the service, customers have also been able to have a US or Canadian number on which to receive calls for an additional $5.95 per month. U.S. and Canadian toll-free numbers are also available.
“NetSpeak is an excellent product for customers that make a lot of overseas calls, such as parents with children at schools overseas and residents with overseas friends and family, as it offers the lowest international calling rates available,” explained Alfred Bodden, Voice Products Manager at C&W. “The ability to dramatically reduce the calling costs for friends and family phoning Cayman is also a huge benefit.”
“The Cayman Islands has historically had a number of ties to the UK, as well as a large British expatriate community, so we are pleased to now be able to offer this service to our valued customers,” he added.
The availability of US, Canadian and now UK phone numbers to receive calls, means that NetSpeak customers can have their friends and family in these countries call them on that number for the cost of a local or national call. If the customer elects to take a toll-free number, friends and family are able to call them at no charge. |
