For anyone getting carried away with the (pre-mature) conservative reaction to Miers one must look, as Fred Barnes pointed out, at the number of Republican SENATORS opposed. So far it's ZERO.

Some could, of course, over-ride the madness of Mad Cow, and team up with the worst anti-American Democrats for a fillibuster-the only purpose of which is to embarrass Bush. But every aspiring America hater in the Dem party would line up to run AGAINST such Republicans and probably win.

In such an oddball scenario, cloture would ultimately be invoked, and Miers passed easily.

But the Republican right is simply being heard. No real opposition has any logic unless Miers blows it in her hearings.

Barring that, it's OVER already. We'll know the eventual result of her confirmation in 5 to 6 years...
