The reason few get rich is that they aren't willing to put enough in one stock and ride it. If you believe in the company, its product, management and future, you should put the majority of your investment dollars in it. I did with QCOM, I did with a bank stock that I worked for years ago. Both times I made huge fortunes. Since then, I have been clowning around and not making all that much. Having a basket of stocks is good for risk management, but my experience is that wealth building this way is slow and difficult. Not worth the effort. For every big winner you get, you get one or two that tank on you, reducing the portfolio return. Better to put it all in index funds, your return will be better imo if you are not a professional money manager.
For those who love stocks and investing though, managing a portfolio is fun, for all others: index funds.
Unless.....YOU BELIEVE and are willing to do like Jed.
