Oh, and to continually drone on about the subject...

Re: Dell firmly under the thumb of Intel

You know, most people don't understand the dynamics at play here. Dell wields a mighty big stick with Intel. Dell ships more Intel CPU's and chipsets than any other company on the planet. That's a mighty big customer. And when your biggest customer speaks, you listen.

Dell makes many demands of Intel of which most folks don't have a clue. Intel lives under the constant threat of AMD which Dell uses masterfully as leverage to their advantage. It goes far beyond getting a "better price" on CPU's.

Re: There are signs that the market is beginning to recognize that Intel has decided to put a cap on Dell's market share, and that there isn't really anything that Dell can do about it. If Dell sells even 1 non-Intel system, WHAM! Dell's profits are cut by hundreds of millions of dollars as Intel raises Dell's costs on every other system that Dell sells.

LOL! The analogy "Cut off your nose to spite your face" comes to mind here. Isn't it obvious how illogical that move would be for Intel?
