This is a different question but one which has been plaguing me (no pun intended) since the governments started talking about a potential pandemic. Why are they doing this? The Bush administration has shown itself to be unconcerned with truth as virtue and, by their nature, governments generally lie and minimize potential losses of order in the social fabric. Government is, of course, about social control. In this case, however, folks in power in many parts of the world appear to be stepping all over each other to say 1. a potential disaster may be coming and 2. we aren't prepared for it and a lot of you will probably die. 3. Other social and financial consequences would be staggering.

Very unusual and makes wonder what the motivation for such public disclosure is. I don't think anyone who survives would be that concerned with finger pointing, just glad to be alive. Anyone have any thoughts?
