That yellowcake document forgery was a minor embarassment to Powell.

I assume you're speaking of the Niger incident and Bush's reference to intelligence that Iraq was attempting to purchase yellowcake from that country?

If so, the information Bush relied upon was from MI6, not the CIA. And to this day, the Brits have not rescinded the validity of their source.. (rumoured to be French intelligence sources since the Niger mines are French operated).

I don't know if you're aware of the intelligence we gathered in Iraq [from an informant and a subsequent raid] that indicated the terrorists were going to attack the NYC subway last week.

Oh.. you might say that I'm "familiar" with it.. ;0) It was a big deal when the information first came out.

The source had been previously held to be credible.. passed a poly.. blah, blah..

Without going into detail, there is good reason to have been suspicious of the information, but the credibility of the source seemed established. I imagine they're still trying to figure it out.. I haven't followed it since the guys were nabbed.

But that said, the stories of some of the suspects seem suspicious as well. Somewhere in between lies the truth.

You're not up to current conservative thinking. Deficits don't matter. Whether its Federal budget deficits or trade deficits, it doesn't matter.

Since we're being cynical here... Might we just conclude that the intent of going to war was merely for the purpose of economic "pump priming" to boost the economy after the stock market bubble burst?
