"I just found out the tech course I take next quarter will teach us how to set up a web page."
Depending on your ambition, it can be fairly easy to do. Many word processors can spit out html, so that can be the simplest. Now if you want to incorporate flash, backend to a database, generate animations, that gets a bit more complicated...
I don't know the first thing about web designing. Its not something I would pursue independently. However, its something I look forward to if its a requirement. Its funny.......the people who run this grad. program want to make sure we are proficient in computers [which I think is a good thing]. However, part of their motivation is that we will look stupid in front of the kids; after all, everyone knows that kids nowadays are supposed to be much more tech savvy than their elders.
However, that's not what I found when I did my 60 hours of in class time last year. At least once per day, I would have to help a kid with his computer. And I am by no means a computer techie. Now when it comes to game boy or playstation, I am sure they can teach me a thing or two but with computers, I don't think that's really an issue. Of course, I may end up eating those words. ;~)
In any case, I look forward to learning how to set up a web page with all the bells and whistles if possible. |
