TJ, My Japanese friends tell me China is 'done'. They say that the new frontier for them is India. This is interesting, because during 1999 while North America was Dotcomming these guys were China-ing. These guys are the corporate types looking to build beachheads, so maybe they miss the smaller opportunities. Think Ito-Yokado supermarkets. By the tone of your missive perhaps they are over-confident? I do think the Japanese had a big head-start over the Europeans in China so it wouldn't surprise me if the Europeans have to spend much dollars to try to buy back the time, er market share, they have lost. Maybe these Japanese think they can just let their Chinese organizations run on auto-pilot from here on out. Are they wrong? They have Honda America and other transplants as a feather in their cap. D
