MAC OS must provide profitability NOW and Rhapsody is the future of AAPL. If you want a clone MAC, you will be able to buy ANY Intel cloner next year to run Rhapsody/Mac. Nobody needs more choices than that.

If you want PPC to run Rhapsody or MacOS, then they will need to be cost/performance competitive with the Intel hardware. AAPL doesn't intend to rape anyone with proprietary hardware, its just that they don't need many vendors for what will be relatively lower volume. So UMAX gets the bottom of the market (home) and AAPL gets the top (Photoshop, etc). Sure it pisses of MOTO and IBM, but thats the way it needs to be!

MOTO has ditched already, but IBM hasn't officially said anything. The relation here is more complex, because AAPL needs IBM to support Rhapsody - both the use of OS2 API's and IBM using the OS for NC's - that would be the most awesome news to me.

Jobs is doing the job... let him execute the plan and then judge him.
