I know you've worked in offices with other women, Karen! Don't tell me you've never gotten into a status battle with another woman.

Sorry, but I haven't. The only female-specific behavior I've seen of that type is what's called the queen-bee syndrome where a woman who has made it in a man's world jealously tries to keep that status for herself and undermines other women. But that was a long time ago when there were just a few of us "first women." I haven't seen an example of it in at least 25 years.

Both women and men with whom I've worked have been more or less androgynous on the job. The only ones who weren't were engineers in some remote locations, men who resented the intrusion of women. I was a manager and a solver of organizational problems for a lot of years and I saw nothing I recognize from what you describe. Perhaps you could give me an example.
