Taro, you aren't articulating exactly what your question is, so am not sure what your question is.

RE: "how many Americans have a clue about what a stem cell is and what stem cell research thus really is about."

Many have a reasonable good idea what it is, though many may not have the full understanding of the potential - I remember being surprised about a new stem cell research initiative related to the heart that I was told about - because it went so much further than what I certainly could envision in that area.

RE: "Most likely at least 95% or IMO even more of those questioned are clueless about this."

Most confusion relates to the controversial area - specifically, knowing that stem cell research does not always equate to embryonic stem cell research. There is stem cell research based upon the use of embilical cords yet you have the religious right wanting to ban all stem cell research because they do not understand this rather important detail or "nuance."

RE: "Thus their replies to me seem to be somewhat meaningless."

Why don't you make a clearer point, rather than being vaguely indirect.

RE: "I would be most interested in your comments here."

Without knowing what your question is, I have no opinion.

Regards,
Amy J
