Just a minor note. The enzymes in saliva tend to inactivate virus.

The big vector for most virus is the dreaded viral-laden finger inserted into the nose or rubbing the nostrils, and the eye rubbed with infected hands.

Polite society finds it difficult to admit that people tend to stick their fingers in their nose. Studies suggest its very common, even among the most refined.
