So what is your point? Merkel was just elected with 35% of the popular vote behind her. Does that lead you to believe that she now became the dictator of Germany??

The governmental structure that exists now in Germany has some important differences from the one under the Weimar Republic. Many of the more controversial elements of that gov't have been removed.

Hitler's was no more a dictatorship than Merkel's soon to be position as the first female Chancellor of Germany.

Hitler's wasn't a dicatatorship at first........it took roughly two years after his appointment to get to that position.
