It's interesting, if you look in the biz section of the Sunday NY Times they list the 20 most popular stocks owned in Merrill Lynch accounts. I looked at YTD performance for each in the chart, and 16 out of the 20 were down for the year. The only two with double digit percentage gains (both in the teens as I recall) were oils, XOM and Chevron. The other two gainers had gains of under 2% on the year, don't recall the exact issues at the moment. John
