At the early stage when everybody is gung ho over shock and awe, it takes a hell of a lot of courage for a politician to be anti-war, and essentially be labeled a traitor. Later when the reality of body bags sets in, it hard to say "I was wrong". People don't like to hear that from politicians. I can remember how pillored McDermott was for his anti war views. He couldn't stop the wave of war but instead was called every traitorous name in the book. ted
