I bet Intel is going to report slightly on the upward side.

I would expect commercial to be strong with a weakening in consumer. But since there seems to be too many shortages mentioned here - sandisk, chipsets, and now v-pod - suprisingly, the consumer still seems to have an appetitue for hightech goodies even in the face of high gas prices. Hard to believe. Quite unusual.

I hope the analysts drill down on the questions this time around (and spare us from questions about how many weeks in a quarter). Contrary to what I said earlier, I don't think the quality of the conf call has gone down, but instead my expectations have gone up. That's what happens during downturns - you expect improved performance out of everyone including analysts - if you know something can be done better - it should be done.

So Intel should figure out a way to orchestrate a better conf call by representing the individual investor like they essentially do with their internal CC where employees ask questions (kudos to Intel/PaulO for thinking of this creative way to conduct a meeting) - too many of the analysts have their own agendas so maybe analysts don't ask the right questions - GV had suggested analysts sometimes don't ask questions because they prefer if people buy their publications - which is understandable and fair, but very contrary to individual investor's goals here to gain information directly from the call.
