The new "ax"?

"Apjit Walia, an analyst RBC Capital Markets, said he thinks Intel underestimated the demand for PCs, and that the shortage may have led some computer makers to turn to rival AMD for chips. But he added that he did not see this as a long-term problem for Intel, as he thinks the company will fix its capacity issues. "

"We are seeing decent seasonality, and if they can fix some of their architectural problems that are allowing AMD to gain share, then there is opportunity for Intel's share price to improve," he said.

But RBC's Walia said that he thinks right now is not a good time to buy.

"Longer term, Intel has a lot of secular growth issues," he said. "It's still too PC-centric. And I'm concerned about the macro economic (picture) going into 2006."
