Hmm. I don't really buy it. But, if it were to happen, the only reason I can come up with is that there is something they are trying to hide. And the only thing that comes to mind that would be important enough for the Dark Prince to fall on his sword is that Fitzgerald has widened the issue to cover the Iraq war. So Cheney resigns, gets a blanket pardon, and becomes a consultant to Bush.
