White House Watch: Cheney resignation rumors fly"

Hmm. I don't really buy it.

I don't either..........but I really like that there is speculation over the issue. It shows how vulnerable the Bush administration is. A year ago I don't think such a rumor wouldn't have surfaced in a respectable rag.

But, if it were to happen, the only reason I can come up with is that there is something they are trying to hide. And the only thing that comes to mind that would be important enough for the Dark Prince to fall on his sword is that Fitzgerald has widened the issue to cover the Iraq war. So Cheney resigns, gets a blanket pardon, and becomes a consultant to Bush.

I think it may be likely that Fitzgerald has expanded his investigation into a conspiracy centered around the war..........the other charge....a threat to national security....is hard to prove. And if the charges are to be about conspiracy, then I think both Bush and Cheney are vulnerable. Of course where it goes depends very much on whether Fitzgerald is as good as they say.
