We can fund SS by removing the cap on contributions. Not only does this get us over the hump of the baby boomers, it also makes the SS tax less regressive.

As for Medicare/Medicaid, we should get rid of the reliance on insurance in place of national health care. I know it's a radical idea but it sure seems like constant, preventative medical care for everyone is a much better idea than dumping money into insurance companies for a future catastrophic event. Besides, insurance is not affordable for employers and really not affordable for workers.

We can then have a serious discussion about the use of pain killers and heroic measures during the last months of life. I'm convinced that we have sufficient healthcare resources but incredibly inefficient usage of them.
