tex,

Grew up on the beach in San Diego (Encinitas/Cardiff) with the only threat was too much fog in June and July. took it all for granted as I didn't know better.

The beaches in the Tampa Bay area remind us of San Diego back in the 70's before the crowds showed up. In addition, it's still one of the cheaper metro areas where you can live close to the water. I'm 100 yards from Old Tampa Bay. In Encinitas, the cost would be million dollars plus, here it's a 1/3rd of that.

The threat of hurricanes don't bother us and it's the trade off for having nice weather 9 months out the year. The heat this summer wasn't near as bad as expected. I'm sure during your Asian travels you've been to S'Pore - that's real humidity.

Beautiful place to live and glad to be back near the ocean. For instance this weekend, took the boat out to Anclote Key (3 miles offshore of Tarpon) for a beach BBQ. Not many places you can do that and certainly not in California.

Every weekend is a mini vacation.

Michael
