True, he shouldn't have nominated her. But I place the blame on her. Surely she knows that her academic qualifications, scholarly achievements, and constitutional philosophical foundation aren't in the same league with the members of the existing court or several hundred other candidates for this opening. Surely she must know she will be tripped up during the hearings. Surely she knows her past foibles will be magnified beyond proportion during the next several weeks. And surely she has read the columns produced by the top conservative opinion leaders in this country which are pillorying her every day.
