the only reason they might, repeat might, do a split is because Buffett doesn't have any issues with large staffing levels that need to be compensated. There is a sense that to incent your employees with options you need to grant *thousands* of shares and not hundreds. Its meaningless actually but there it is, you aren't going to get great engineering talent with 600 options.

I'm not expecting a split this time, but I think they will split eventually, probably a 3 or 4:1 at some point, once, and that will be it. My sense is Schmidt understands this and Brin/Page do not.
