A raise from $5.15 to $7 is not a 41% raise. It is a 36% raise. And that's over 3 years.

You don't miss an opportunity to fudge a little or misrepresent reality.

The minimum wage has not risen for 7 years. On that basis alone, and especially since the poor on the other end of the age scale, those on SS, get COLAs every couple of years, the minimum wage needs about a 10% boost right out of the gate.

Even after 3 years, the income at minimum wage for a family of four will only about equal the current poverty level. And that doesn't account for whatever inflation may occur between now and then.

So, while the top 1% of the compassionate conservative population has enjoyed huge income increases in the last few years, all they and their legislative lackeys have to say to the folks on the bottom, in their most compassionate tone, would be "fuck'em if they can't take a joke."
