Conservatives are committed to this capitalist model, which is born of compassion.
What a scream. Hey, I know we're operating off different paradigms, but that was the best laugh of the day.
Capital concedes nothing that is not taken by law: minimum wages, health benefits, pensions, child labor laws, product safety, environmental safety, vacations--none of this was came voluntarily. And it is easily argued that as labor grew stronger, everyone did better.
Now we are in reverse. With a willing WH and greased by money, we now have perhaps a greater alignment of corporate interests with government interests than ever. And you actually want to argue that there's something compassionate about that?
Maybe we simply have different definitions of compassion. I would call it a realization that we are all fundamentally the same and all connected to each other, completely interdependent. That is not the principle that capital operates on generally, otherwise GWB & CO would not be rolling back every single major environmental law he can get his hands on and also giving the keys to the chicken house to the foxes from industry.
Looks like Dizzy's been bizzy. I'll have to get bizzy wit Dizzy later. |
